Piston Software’s Direct MP3 Joiner works as advertised. If you take multiple MP3 files and load them into Direct MP3 Joiner, Direct MP3 Joiner will join them together into a larger MP3 file. It must be mentioned here that several join modes are supported: Joiner, Batch Mode, Append Mode, and Mix Mode. A dropdown menu in the lower left hand side allows you to select the mode you want. A brief explanation nicely describes what each mode can do.

A setup wizard will help you install Direct MP3 Joiner on a PC that runs Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Please note that Direct MP3 Joiner is not free, it is only free to try. This means that you will be installing a copy that is free to use for a trial period of 30 days. A prompt will show up every time you launch Direct MP3 Joiner and will tell you how many days are left in your trial.

You can load MP3 files into the application by using the Add File(s) dialog or by simply dragging and dropping them onto the interface. The files you load will be presented as a list on the main panel of the application’s interface. Above this main panel there’s a File Menu and a toolbar with buttons for various functions (save project, start the join process, and so on). Below this main panel there are two tabs: Options (pick one of multiple join modes) and Tag Editor (view, edit audio tags).

As mentioned at the start of this article, and as mentioned in the paragraph above, Direct MP3 Joiner has several join modes to offer. Here’s a closer look at these join modes:
Joiner – load multiple MP3 files and join them into one large MP3 file; insert X seconds of silence between tracks if you want to.
Batch Mode – join MP3 files by group and create a new MP3 file every X files; insert X seconds of silence between all tracks.
Append Mode – join one fixed file to every other file in the list; append the file to the start or to the end; insert X seconds of silence between all tracks.
Mix Mode – mix one fixed file with every other file in the list.

If you want to join multiple MP3 files, you can very easily and very quickly do so with Piston Software’s Direct MP3 Joiner.

Pros

A setup wizard will help you install Direct MP3 Joiner on a Windows PC. You will quickly figure out this application’s interface. Using Direct MP3 Joiner is a fairly straightforward 3-step process: load files, pick a join mode, join the MP3 files. Several join modes are available. The option to view and edit audio tags is available. There’s a built-in audio player.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, nag screen.
